9 militant outfits surrendered arms in Assam

After 9 militant outfits surrendered arms in Assam in the presence of Union Home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday, 15 cadres of the militant outfit Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tiger also surrendered on Republic day. The cadres laid down 3 AK47 rifles, 9 pistols, 1 carbine, and ammunition in huge amount. Killing a number of congress leaders and CRPF Jawans in the last few months, the insurgent outfit was on rampage in the Karbi hills of Assam. The outfit was also involved in many extortion again.

Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tiger’s finance secretary Elex Singh, who led the cadres, stated that the lack of far sightedness and rift among the top leaders was leading the outfit’s disintegration.
