RAJASTHAN TRAFFIC POLICE RAJASTHAN TRAFFIC POLICE ADOPTS ‘GANDHIGIRI’Traffic police in Rajasthan has turned to ‘Gandhigiri’ to create traffic awareness among the city commuters. Traffic officials offer flowers to the commuters and appeal them to not to violate traffic rules.
Speaking to media Traffic Poliec Officer, Jai Singh Khandu, said “We offered rose among the commuter’s and appealed them to follow traffic rules and never to break them.”

Again speaking to media Transportation Officer, Satender Nama said that the programme is meant for those who do not follow the traffic rules.”
Earlier, a similar approach has been adopted by the Ahmadabad traffic police.

Jyotiprasad Agarwala SILPI DIVAS OBSERVED ACROSS ASSAMAssam observed Silpi Divas on 62nd death anniversary of musician, dramatist, writer and film director Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala. After his death on 17th January, 1951, the day has been observed with various programmes and events organised at various parts across the state.
Born on 17th June 1903, Jyotiprasad Agarwala, was a cultural icon and a great Assamese play writer, song writer and film director. In fact, he is regarded as the founder of Assamese cinema.

In his honour, Assam government issued a commemorative stamp of Agarwala in 2004.
The government of Assam on Tuesday gave the prestigious Silpi Awards 2012 to musicians and artists Apurba Das and Dilip Ranjan Barthakur on the occasion of Silpi Divas. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi gave awards to Das and Barthakur in a cultural ceremony held at Ravindra Bhavan in Guwahati.

“Almost 2.5 lakhs people responded in favour of christening a Delhi road after Sachin Tendulkar. Indian cricket team and Bollywood actors have also complimented such a step,” said Rajni Abba, Delhi’s Mayor.
She further remarked, ”Earlier also a Delhi road was christened after the name of a living legend Nelson Mandela.

There is a debate going on over the issue of conferring Bharat Ratna upon Sachin Tendulkar and hence there is no problem in christening a road after hm.”

Kapil Sibal  SIBAL ASKS MODI TO ACCEPT HC VERDICT ON APPOINTMENT OF GUJ LOKAYUKTAReacting to the Gujarat High Court verdict upholding the appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat, Union minister and senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal has asked the Narendra Modi government to accept the verdict with respect.
“Once the verdict has come the state government should accept it with respect, “ Kabil Sibal said while talking to media in New Delhi.

The Gujarat High Court  upheld the appointment of RA Mehta as the lokayukta by Governor Kamla Beniwal. The petitioners in the case termed it a historic judgement.
A two-judge bench had last October delivered a split verdict on the government’s plea questioning Mehta’s appointment.
While Justice Akil Kureshi had upheld the appointment of Mehta, Justice Sonia Gokani disagreed. The case went to a third judge, Justice V.N. Sahai, who completed the hearing Dec 29, 2011 and announced the verdict on Wednesday.

MONORAIL IN THE OFFING IN GUWAHATI MONORAIL IN THE OFFING IN GUWAHATIThe Capital city of Assam, Guwahati may soon have fast and high tech public transport in the form of Monorail running on the tracks. A public sector enterprise, Engineering Project (India) Ltd, will submit a formal proposal to the Assam government to set up a monorail system connecting City Centre to the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in its first phase.

“We had a mouth with Scoomy, Malaysia for taking up the Monorail projects in India. We will design the entire structure and Design of Monorail according to the Technology from Malaysia on rolling stock,” said SPS Bakshi Chief Managing Director of Engineering Project (India) Ltd.
The monorail system reportedly shall be suitable for the traffic management aspects of Guwahati because of the congested roads and increasing burden of population on the public transportation facilities.
