The continuance of Dow Chemicals as sponsors of 2012 London Olympics has caused much outrage among the victims of Bhopal gas tragedy and Indian Olympic Association has raised the issue with International Olympic Committee, Tarlochan Singh said.
The London Olympics Organising Committee has maintained that Dow Chemicals will remain sponsors of the 2012 London Olympics despite the resignation of Ethics panel chief. Meanwhile, Indian Olympic Association has said that Dow Chemicals should be removed as sponsors of the games.
Notably, Dow Chemicals is the current owner of the Union Carbide. Union Carbide was responsible for 1984 Bhopal chemical leak – one of the world’s worst industrial disasters that killed more than 15,000 people.
