THIRTEEN DIAMOND TRADERS REACHED HOME AFTER RELEASE FROM CHINA


Thirteen Indian diamond traders yesterday reached Mumbai following their release from a Chinese prison where they spent about one-and-a-half years.
The traders families and relatives had come at the airport to receive them. The traders said they were elated to be reunited with their families after a long time.
Speaking of their ordeal in China, one of the traders Anand Shah said that they were kept at the detention centre.
The 22 Indian diamond traders were arrested in southern China’s Shenzhen city in 2010.
They were allegedly charged with smuggling diamonds worth 50 million Yuan or 7.3 million US Dollars.
They were accused of sourcing diamonds illegally from Hong Kong for sale in the Chinese market.
Rest nine have been jailed of six years.

PIAGGIO UNVEILS NEW VESPA IN INDIA


Piaggio, the well known and the largest manufacturer of two-wheelers in Europe unveils new Vespa for India.
The scooter, starting with a 125-cubic-centimeter model, will be launched in the country in April 2012 and would be available in 35 cities across the country.
The price of the vespa scooters could be around 60,000 rupees.
The company likes to leverage this feasible untapped market segment that shows tremendous potential for growth in the coming years.
This will be the first scooter venture of Piaggio in India without a local partner.

SALMAN KHURSHID: CONGRESS COMMITTED FOR DECRIMINALISATION OF POLITICS


Stating that the government is committed for decriminalising in theelectoral system, Law Minister Salman Khurshid today said far-reaching electoral reforms are on the anvil after the coming Assembly polls.
“Its difficult time for Indian politics… we are for decriminalisation of politics…we couldn’t bring in electoral reforms… we are in favour ofcleaning up politics.” Khurshid stated.”
Notably, the minister’s statement comes close on the heels of the ChiefElection Commissioner SY Quraishi’s remarks that government may not have been able to table a bill on electoral reforms in the just-concluded session of Parliament, due to its pre-occupation with other issues he expected the law ministry to keep its promise in the next session.
Reacting on the controversy over the induction of controversial BJP sacked Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha by the BJP, he said that the Congress was doing its best to try to avoid any such mistakes.
“Given the ground realities, it is an absolute minefield there. We are doing our best that we do not step on a minefield.”

INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE GROWTH TO BE MAIN FOCUS OF 12TH PLAN, SAY MONTEK


Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia has said that inclusive and sustainable growth will be the main focus of the 12th Five Year Plan. This plan is due to begin from fiscal year 2012-13.
Speaking in Bhubaneswar  Montek Singh Ahluwalia said, “The theme of the 12th Plan is ‘Inclusive and Sustainable Growth’… it means we want the plan to benefit everyone.”
He also stressed that 9 per cent growth rate is achievable provided the infrastructure and energy gets optimum funds for investment to achieve this purpose.

A WOMEN AND HER THREE KIDS BRUTALLY MURDERED


Four of a family a women and her three kids have brutally been murdered in their Loni house in Ghaziabad, say the police. The incident occurred late on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rukhsana. She is said to be wife of an auto-driver Nawab. The desperado attacked the lone woman and her kids with sharp edged weapons. Police suspect private enmity to have led to the crime.

RTI ACTIVIST ATTACKED FOR FIGHTING AGAINST CORRUPTION


An RTI – Right to Information  activist has been brutally assaulted for exposing jobs given on fake documents and black marketing ofration.
Talking about the attack the activist said that as a result of RTI one person from his village was arrested for black marketing of rationmeant for poor people.
“And there is a clerk in the village who charges money for giving cooked up evidence by standing witness in cases. He got my father assaulted by paying money. A complaint was filed by me in this regard. Yet the police investigating officer Rajesh visited the assailant and had tea with him,” said the injured activist.

ELEVEN DEAD AS BALLOON CRASHES IN NEW ZEALAND


hot air balloon carrying 11 people caught fire and crashed, killing all of them, in New Zealand’s northern farming town of Carterton, 80 kilometers northeast of the town of Wellington.
Wellington Regional Commander Mike Rusbatch, approached the balloon soon after it fell down. He said that the pilot and 10 passengers died, adding that detailed information about the unfortunate event was yet to be collected.
Eyewitnesses said they saw flames leaping out of the balloon before it fell.

TAINTED PERSONS NOT TO BE TAKEN IN SAMAJWADI PARTY: AKHILESH YADAV

Amid raging controversy within his own party over induction of controversial DP Yadav in SP, state party chief stressed that taintedpersons will not be taken in the party.“Our party will not let tainted person to join us,” said Akhilesh Yadav, UP Samajwadi Party Chief.
Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav replaced Mohan Singh by another party MP Ram Gopal Yadav as party spokesperson. The sacking of Mohan Singh from party spokesperson’s post came after his criticism against Akhilesh Yadav for denying party ticket to controversial DP Yadav, a history-sheeter politician from Western UP.

HEAVY SNOWFALL IN PATNITOP MESMERISES TOURISTS
