Marking ongoing Magh Utsav thousands of devotees took holy dip into famed Parashuram Kund in Lohit
district of Arunachal Pradesh to attend moksha.
The pilgrims believe that a visit to
this site and a dip in the Kund will
wipe out their sins.
Parasuram Kund located in Arunachal’s Lohit district is a famous pilgrim site of Northeast India. The location finds its mention in Hindu mythological scriptures.
Thousands of devotees visit these places from across India, Nepal every
year to take a holy dip.
The holy dip which starts with
the advent of Magh month in Hindu
calendar month from January 14 last for several days with devotees taking dip in the cold freezing water in the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Legend has it that Parasuram had killed his mother and to come out of his sin had to cut the Himalayan mountain with a sword used by him to kill his mother and take a dip at the Kund.
Parasuram, a disciple of Lord Siva was guilty of his
crime and travelled world over, however, he finally found this mountain in the Northeastern Himalayan state, where he could come out of his sins but not his guilt.
The Hindu devotees for ages now have been visiting this famed site to come out of their sins.
Every year from January 14, which is popular as Makar Sankaranti in rest of India and Bhogali Bihu in Assam the Parasuram Kund mela is
organized at this famous site, which has been drawing attention of not only devotees but saints, rishimonis, sandhus, maharajas, swamish and highly held hindu priest among tourist and all alike.
Swamy Acharyaji of famed Kashi temple visited Parasuram Kund this year. He said that taking a dip at the holy site of Parasuram Kund will wipe out all sins.
Swamy also lauded the efforts of the government of Arunachal Pradesh for ensuring elaborate
arrangement for the festival.
Parasuram Kund located 13 miles north-east of Tezu, District Headquarters of Lohit District, a town which boasts of scenic surprises.
The annual fair draws a large gathering to take a holy dip there. Sages and saint from different parts of the country visit this site every year.
It is a sight of madness of people, strong faith and dedication towards almighty.
Devotees are thrilled to visit the site as they believe that a holy dip in the Kund will wash away their sins.
Locals in Arunachal Pradesh make reference to the existence of a temple dedicated to Rukmini.
