MAN CONSUMES POISON FOR NOT GETTING BPL CARD IN SPITE OF EFFORTS

Having failed to get a Below Poverty Line (BPL) card in spite of his several attempts, a man commits suicide in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh state.

The victim identified as Rakesh runs a tea shop and he had applied for a BPL card to meet his daily expenses, but no one paid heed to his problem.
As per reports the man is undergoing treatment as his condition remains to be critical.

9 militant outfits surrendered arms in Assam

After 9 militant outfits surrendered arms in Assam in the presence of Union Home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday, 15 cadres of the militant outfit Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tiger also surrendered on Republic day. The cadres laid down 3 AK47 rifles, 9 pistols, 1 carbine, and ammunition in huge amount. Killing a number of congress leaders and CRPF Jawans in the last few months, the insurgent outfit was on rampage in the Karbi hills of Assam. The outfit was also involved in many extortion again.

Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tiger’s finance secretary Elex Singh, who led the cadres, stated that the lack of far sightedness and rift among the top leaders was leading the outfit’s disintegration.

TWO CASES FOR VIOLATION OF CODE OF CONDUCT REGISTER AGAINST CONG CANDIDATE

In another case violation of model code of conduct two FIR has been registered against the Congress candidate Rajendra Bhandari contesting from Chamoli assembly seat.
Speaking to media Congress Spokesperson, Manoj Bhandari said “District Magistrate has always opposed us it is nothing but a conspiracy framed by him against me.”

Briefing media District Magistrate, Rajender Kumar Sinha said, “Two cases under section 153 of model code of conduct has been logged in Gopeshwar Police Station against Rajendra Bhandari as he had used Temple to campaign by sticking poster and stickers.”

ANNA SEEKS NEW LAW TO EMPOWER GRAM SABHAS ABOVE PARLIAMENT

Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare seeks to bring a law to empower gram sabhas that will be above Parliament.

In a video address to Team Anna’s seminar ‘Rebuilding the Republic’ in New Delhi. Anna said demanded to empower Gram Sabha above Parliament so that the voters who have selected the lawmakers as their representatives are aware where their money is being used by the government and it was time to give full power to gram sabhas.

He further added that the decision on the Lokpal Bill was taken in Rajya Sabha on the last day of winter session was wrong as the leaders took the decision on their own which is against the democracy. He added that the public is not aware that the gram sabhas have even more power that the Vidhan Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
Anna further slammed the ministers for taking decisions on their own as the representatives consider them above all.
Anna pitched in for provisions in the new law where a panchayat could be dismissed if it spends money without consulting the gram sabha and getting their consent.
The 74-year-old crusader also said that one of the reasons of rampant corruption in the country is because there is no transparency about the use of public funds.
Lashing out at the ruling Congress government, Anna added that in case if they take decisions on their own, there was no difference between them and the time when Britishers ruled the country.

CONGRESS MOST CORRUPT GOVT POST INDEPENDENCE: BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad says that the ruling Congress party is the most corrupt government after India’s Independence.

He also slams the party for not taking genuine action against former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi and Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit for their alleged involvement in corruption.
